She is called the Nostradamus of the Balkans, and with good reason. Baba, Vanga, the blind Bulgarian clairvoyant, is believed to have predicted the rise of the ISIS, the fall of the twin towers, the 2004 Tsunami, and the global warming, among a host of other events. “Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds.“ “The wolves will be howling in a bush and innocent blood will gush,” is, according to her followers, what she said about the fall of the twin towers.

Born as Vangelia Pandeva Dimitrova, in Strumica, Macedonia, Baba Vanga, mysteriously lost her eyesight when she was 12, during a massive storm. She went missing for a few days, and it is during one of these days, that she had her first vision.  Baba Vanga rose to popularity as she started to make predictions, and developed a healing touch, during the World War II. Several dignitaries visited the mystic during the years that she was active, including the Bulgarian tsar, Boris III. Before she died in 1996 from breast cancer, she had said that her gift would be passed on to a 10 year old girl, living in France, who will then take on from her. Her house has since been converted into a museum.

Many people look at Baba Vanga as a false prophet because the 2010 prophecy about World War III did not happen. Here are few predictions that the Blind Baba made for 2016 and beyond:



2016 : Barack Obama will be the last president of the US: Baba Vanga had predicted that the 44th US president would be an African American, but she had also added that he would be the last one. According to her, he would leave office at a time when the country would be in economic ruins, and there would be a huge divide between the northern and southern states – as was the case during the American Civil War  between 1861 and 1865.

2016 : Europe will cease to exist: According to Baba Vanga, the continent will cease to exist by 2016, and all that would remain will be empty spaces and wasteland, nearly devoid of any form of life. She is reported to have said that chemical weapons would be used by extremists against Europe.

2016: Muslims will invade Europe: The blind mystic had also predicted that Muslims will invade Europe, and there will be widespread destruction by extremists, which will go on for many years, until the continent ceases to exist. She had also predicted that a Great Muslim War will begin in Syria.

2018: China will become the new super power: As per her predictions, China is set to become the new superpower in 2018, bringing an end to the United States and its economy. According to her, the exploiters (the developed nations) will become the exploited (the third world). In 2011, the International Monetary Fund had also predicted that China’s economy will overtake that of the US in 2016, emerging as the new superpower.   

2018: On to Venus: Humans will travel to Venus, according to the Baba, in search of new energy sources. They might even set up a colony there. Venus is the second planet from the sun and is referred to as Earth’s “sister planet” because of their similar size, mass, proximity to the Sun and bulk composition.

2023: Earth’s Orbit: The Earth’s orbit will change and no one really knows what this will mean for Earth and humanity.

2025: Hunger eradication: Baba Vanga has predicted that hunger will get eradicated sometime between 2025 and 2028.

2043: Rome as the capital of the Islamic caliphate: Islam will finish invading the whole of Europe by 2043, and Rome will be the capital of the new caliphate. The world’s economy will thrive under  the Muslim rule.

2045: Ice caps melting: According to the Baba, ice caps will melt by 2045. The rate at which the ice caps are melting already due to global warming, does seem to suggest the same. 

2046: Cloning of organs: As per Baba Vanga’s predictions, body organs will be cloned in 2046, and that would be the easiest method of treatment.  There will no longer be any need to do transplants! Miracles will be performed day in day out and long transplants waiting lists will be eliminated altogether.

2050: Pollution: By the year 2050, the number of deaths caused by pollution and global warming — which includes tiny particles found in smoke and haze, ground-level ozone typically emitted by cars, and toxic components in household products and building materials — will climb, according to Baba Vanga, killing more than 6 million people each year.

2066: US attacking Muslim dominated Europe: By 2066, the US will attack Muslim dominated Europe using climate change weapon, and will try to retake Rome and bring back Christianity.

2076: The return of Communism: By 2076, communism will return to Europe and the rest of the world.

2100: Man made Sun is lighting up the dark side of the planet Earth.

2111: People become robots.

2123: Wars between small countries. Big countries don’t get evolved.

2125: In Hungary the signals from Space are received. (People will be reminded of Vanga again)

2130: Underwater civilisations: By 2130, civilisations will learn how to live under water, with the help of aliens.

2154: Animals become half-humans.

2256: By 2256, including a Mars colony becoming a nuclear power and demanding independence from the earth, the establishment of an underwater city and the discovery of something “terrible” during the search for alien life.

2304: By 2304 human being will do time travel. Meanwhile French guerrillas fight the Muslim authorities in France. The "secrets of the moon” will be unveiled.

2341: From 2341 a series of natural and man-made disasters render our home planet uninhabitable. Humanity escapes to another solar system, but resources are scarce and wars are waged as a result.

3797: By 3797, everything on Earth will cease to exist. However, humans will be advanced enough to move to a new star system.

Things you would like to know about the 7th pay commission recommendations and their impact:


1.   A part of the additional cost to the government would be compensated by the increased income tax and sales tax following increased consumption.

2.   Around 10 million government employees (including six million pensioners) would benefit from the pay hike.

3.   India Ratings pegs the net impact on the central government finances at Rs 80,600 crore.

4.   The 6th pay commission had recommended a salary hike of 40 per cent in 2008, effective from January 1, 2006.

5.   The ceiling of gratuity has been increased from the existing Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

6.   The government will decide if the arrears for the six months will be paid in one go or in instalments.

7.   The hike in salary may increase inflation. The RBI's current inflation projections did not take into account the impact of salary hike.

8.   The hike would be effective from January 1, 2016 and the revised salaries are likely to be paid July 1, 2016 onwards. Therefore, all government employees would get six months' arrears.

9.   The hike would mean an additional cost of Rs 1 lakh crore to the government, of which pension payments would account for Rs 33,700 crore.

10. The increase in salaries of government employees is likely to boost consumption by Rs 40,000-50,000 crore and savings by around 30,000 crore. The boost to consumption would add 0.5 percentage points to the GDP.

11. The minimum salary recommended by the panel is Rs 18,000 a month and the maximum salary Rs 2.5 lakh a month.

12. The starting salary of Rs 18,000 is more than double the existing pay of Rs 7,000. On the other hand, the maximum salary has been increased from Rs 80,000 a month to Rs 2.5 lakh. The ratio of minimum to maximum salary is 1:11.4 to 1:13.9.
