Doing Vishnu Puja?- Don't do these mistakes

1.   After meals : Don't do the puja after you have had your meals. Do it after you have a bath first thing in the morning.

2.   Blue dress: Do not do puja wearing a blue dress or offer one to the Lord.

3.   Borrowed flowers: Don't do the puja with borrowed flowers, leaves and fruits. Buy some fresh flowers yourself.

4.   Burning incense : Don't use incense sticks (dhoop) without ghee (clarified butter) while doing the pooja.

5.   Chewing masala: Don't chew pan masala or eat tobacco while doing the puja.

6.   Contracted through nails: Do not offer the lord any item that has contacted the nails or contacted water falling through nails .

7.   Covered in head to toe: Do not do the puja while covering all your body parts - keep your hands free for aarti.

8.   Don't use thread: Don't use thread to make diyas for puja. Use cotton balls instead.

9.   Idol in left hand: Don't bathe the lord while holding his idol in the left hand.

10. Nakta Vrata: Do not do the puja if you have not observed nakta vrata on ashtami.

11. Offering items: Don't offer old or used items to the Lord. Always use new items.

12. Shiva puja: Do not do the puja while hating Lord Shiva during the process. It will cast a bad omen on the puja.

13. Sitting on high pedestal : Do not sit on a high pedestal while offering dhoop to the Lord.

14. Someone else: Do not worship Vishnu as someone else or someone else as Vishnu.

15. Tatavdevatas: Do not do the puja without doing pooja of the tatavdevatas proceeding to vishnu pooja.

16. Unwashed feet: Do not enter any temple (whether at home or outside) without washing your feet and legs.

17. Use only ghee to make prasad: Use only ghee to make the prasad of the pooja and nothing else. (like vegetable oil)

18. Using the washroom: Do not do the puja after using the washroom and do not use the washroom during the puja.

19. Vighneshwara: Do not do the puja without worshipping Vighneshwara and Kaapali.
